Keys To Successfully Paint Or Stain Your Kitchen Dresser

Keys To Successfully Paint Or Stain Your Kitchen Dresser

When it comes to your kitchen everything has to be perfect! It’s an area where people are all the time, especially when you have guests come over. Your kitchen dresser looks lovely there in the corner, but eventually you need to spruce it up a bit. Years ago these were used for cooling porridge and preparing meats, but today they offer a quaint appeal to any home. So make sure you keep it in the best shape possible.

You probably already know that wood furniture needs repainted from time to time. If your kitchen dresser needs restored then take the time to find the right kitchen paint and kitchen designs to beautify your kitchen. However, there are a few things to consider when painting your kitchen dresser:

Consider a wood stain as an alternative

This can be the perfect choice if you want to enhance the look of the wood instead of covering it. Just like kitchen paint, stains are available in a variety of hues. When you take this route the wood keeps its natural allure, since the stain doesn’t penetrate the pores of the wood. However, it’s always important to remember that when you stain you have to add a finish to protect it.

Sand before painting

If you’re going to paint your kitchen dresser then you need to sand it down. This gets rid of those imperfections so you can add primer and paint evenly. We do recommend sanding it outdoors. Your kitchen dresser contains lead-based paint, which is not healthy at all. Too much can lead to memory loss and even high blood pressure.

Kitchen Designs – Think About Color

Sometimes scheming can be a good thing. When selecting designer kitchen paint for kitchen dressers, consider creating an overall color scheme. This doesn’t mean that every furniture piece in your kitchen has to be the exact same hue. However, creating a color scheme can help to bring together the whole kitchen. Neutral colors are some of the best ones, since they match with any color in the kitchen. You could also mix and match primary colors, secondary colors, or complementary colors. Also, you could use the color of kitchen dressers as an accent for the other d?cor in the kitchen.

Always add Primer

This is not an option! Adding primer prepares the wood to properly be painted. It doesn’t matter if you choose a spray or the brush version, because both work well. Then again; if you have a large surface we would recommend the brush-on primer. If you do this you will be able to apply your coat evenly.

Just by using kitchen paint or stain, your kitchen dresser will look better than ever. It will also help the process run smoother, so dress up your kitchen dresser correctly!…

Seven Reasons to Get Your Home Windows Tinted

Seven Reasons to Get Your Home Windows Tinted

Tinted windows are skyrocketing in popularity in the new home building industry, and no wonder. Today’s products are head and shoulders above their predecessors in terms of aesthetics and functionality, and they are in high demand in all parts of the country. Here are seven great reasons why you should get your home windows tinted.

Energy Savings: Today’s window tinting products are engineered specifically to reject infrared light from the sun that causes undue heat in a home’s interior. By rejecting up to 97 percent of this light with the use of spectrally-selective films, you will save substantial amounts on your summer air conditioning bill.

Comfort: With markedly decreased heating from infrared light, your family will enjoy greater overall comfort in the home. You can read in the easy chair by the window any time of day without getting hot, and the kids will stop fiddling with the thermostat.

Protect your Furniture: Infrared light causes heat, but UV rays cause fading. When windows are tinted properly, they will reject 99 percent of UV rays: giving your furniture, carpeting, drapes, artwork, and other decorative and personal belongings a longer and more vibrant life.

More Privacy: Today’s window tinting products are still reflective on the outside, keeping peeping eyes at bay. However, they have low interior reflectivity: so you can fully enjoy the view from your windows at night.

New Technologies: If you’ve had tinting in the past but didn’t like its metallic content, today’s types use no-metal technology to give you the protection you want without the problems associated with metals. There is absolutely no interference with cell phone or wireless internet signals.

Beauty: Unlike their predecessors, today’s tinting films add to the beauty of a home rather than detract from it.

Value: In this difficult real estate market, any energy-saving home improvements add lasting value to a residential property. Having window tinting installed is a cost-effective, practical, and attractive way to reduce home energy costs and thereby make your house stand out from the pack. …

How to Choose a Bathroom Remodeler

Your bathroom is perhaps the most important room of your house. But most of the time it is neglected. While you decorate your bedroom and dining space, it’s sometimes essential to remodel the bathroom too. This not only adds beauty and enjoyment to your home, but also increases the value of your home if you wish to sell it in future.
However, remodeling your bathroom is not an easy task and can be costly too. You need to consider the flooring, paint, and other essentials like the sink, mirrors, showers, bath tubs and other accessories. If you’re not careful, you could easily end up with a bathroom that’s anything but what you had wanted it to be. So, it is of extreme importance to have a good plan in place before you begin.
Hiring a reputed bathroom remodeler makes a lot of sense in this regard. Not only do you ensure a cleaner and better installation that way, but also good quality accessories and a higher level of satisfaction. Here are the facilities a good company will provide you for bathroom remodeling:
* Easy and quick installation of the Sinks and Mirrors: Perhaps you have already purchased sinks and mirrors by your own. Many companies in the market will refuse to take your project because you haven’t bought the materials from their catalogs. However that should never be a problem with reputed and honest remodeling companies. No matter where you buy the products from, they will make sure that they are installed quickly and easily in the right way.
* Constructing the floors and walls: Regular use will change the surfaces of the tiles and ceramic over time, necessitating their replacement. An experienced service provider will give you an accurate estimate on the time required to finish your project. A bathroom is an absolute necessity in the house and a competent remodeling company will make sure that you are ready to use it again as soon as possible.
* Installing the perfect showers and bath tub: In some cases, the existing bath tub is measured and a new one is fitted over it, for a very quick remodeling. In other cases, the old bath tub is professionally cleaned to make it look like new again. Make sure that your appointed remodeler is taking care of all the scratches, chips, and water stains on the bath tub and the shower area. They will also use non-harmful and non-staining chemicals that both clean and disinfect.…

What to Consider in a Kitchen Remodel

What to Consider in a Kitchen Remodel

Remodeling a kitchen is not only for people who are planning to move from their homes, it is also for those who are planning to stay. Rather than upgrading flooring, appliances, cabinets and fixtures for someone else, homeowners may wish to enjoy them before selling the home. A variety of changes can be made at reasonable expense to increase energy efficiency and reduce the amount of time it takes to prepare meals and clean up afterwards.

Sink

Different types and sizes of sinks are available, depending on the cook’s preferences. A dual sink makes it possible to wash items on one side while leaving the opposite side free for other uses. For example, washing lettuce and other vegetables can be accomplished on the left-hand side of the sink while fresh clams are soaking in water on the right. Various sink materials can be used, such as stainless steel, natural stone or ceramics. They can come in any shape, mount or size. Sink features might include a hose attachment and built-in sink disposer. Faucets may have an additional water filter or different spray settings.

Countertops and Cabinets

Countertops and sinks can be coordinated to blend in together for an elegant and efficient look. Surfaces are easy to clean and maintain with improved durability. Popular surface materials include marble, quartz, granite, Formica and laminate wood. Consider mounting small appliances on the wall rather than resting on valuable counter space. Cabinets can be refaced or replaced with more efficient shelving and more durable material that will blend in with the rest of the new kitchen d?cor.

Appliances

The days of waiting 10 minutes for the stovetop to heat up are over. Cooktops with instantaneous heat are now the norm. Regulating how much of the burner to use is now done by touch panels. Convection, conventional and microwave ovens are all options in the modern kitchen. Choosing the number of ovens and which types to use should be a fun chore for the cook in the household. A new refrigerator and/or freezer is much more energy efficient that the older models. Dishwashers are as well.

Floors

Flooring is used to set a tone for the kitchen atmosphere. Materials might include cork flooring, laminate and hardwood floors, and ceramic tile. Depending on the amount of traffic a kitchen experiences, the surface should be durable enough to encounter kids, pets, high-heel shoes and lots of family activities without compromising the overall look of the room.…

All About The Deck: Best Wood, Best Stain, Best Sealers

Well, there are many wood options for outdoor decks but if you ask me I am going to have to say Ipe!\! I hate saying because I am not one to list favorites… but for me there is little comparison, I mean yes, there are some woods such as Tigerwood and Garapa come extremely close 2nd and 3rd. But like I said, if I had to choose the best deck wood for me would be Ipe!
So, this is why
1. All 3 are naturally weather resistant
2. All 3 are naturally insect resistant
3. All 3 are extremely beautiful
4. All 3 are very easy to maintain
5. All 3 are dense, strong, durable woods
But here is why Ipe stands out to me the most.
1. It is vertically unaffected by dog scratches
2. It is unmarked by high heel scratches
So there you have it, my reasons for choosing Ipe, though, with just one glance as my quick list you can see why any of the 3 would be an amazing wood choice!
Moving on… So, still rolling with the Ipe name, the best wood deck sealer and stain could possibly be Ipe Oil. This is a great sealer/stain for anyone installing an ipe deck just adding to the already amazing benefits of this wonderful wood. U.V. ray protection, water protection, reduces cracking and warping, and in one simple statement, it keeps your wood looking new. This finishing oil is not only great for Ipe but also for Tigerwood and Garapa as well as many other solid beautiful hardwoods. Ipe and other exotic woods do take a little more with regular recoating, you will want to recoat your wood about once a year with a good sealer to keep it looking and feeling its best! Also, think about the color you choose, if you went with a clear coat to keep the natural color of you wood then that is great but remember if you choose a lighter color the stain will fade faster than with a dark color. Also, choosing a finish with a red pigment will help prevent UV fades causing the wood to fade faster.
What is the important thing to remember when staining and sealing woods like Ipe, Tigerwood or Garapa? You need to choose a stain that is designed for the exotic hardwoods of Brazil; these woods are very dense making it far more difficult for a stain or finish to penetrate than other woods. Lots of sealers just won’t work causing you to waste your time, efforts and money and leaving you unhappy with the outcome. You need to really check the brand of stain or sealer you buy they must say on them that they are meant for exotic hardwoods, they may even say Ipe, Tigerwood and other Brazilian woods listened on there. If they do not say any of this than my guess is they won’t work, you may be looking to spend a little more than if just an ordinary stain but remember your outdoor deck is not built from ordinary wood, your wood is Everlasting!…

It will take a certain person with a certain taste to add black fixtures in the bathroom. People who like clean, new and sexy looks are encouraged to go with these options. Black adds boldness to any room and will stand out. You do not have to get crazy with it, but simply make it more subtle. The best thing you can change to black in a bathroom would be the faucets.
